This study explores the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing data literacy for post-harvest agricultural research in Nigeria, with a focus on the Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI). The agricultural sector in Nigeria faces significant challenges, including high post-harvest losses that hinder its growth and sustainability. NSPRI plays a crucial role in addressing these issues; however, limited data literacy and the inability to leverage modern technology, particularly AI, pose obstacles to effective post-harvest research. The study adopts a qualitative research approach, utilising semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders at NSPRI, including researchers, data analysts, and management staff. The interviews explore the current level of data literacy within NSPRI, the perceptions of AI, and the potential benefits and challenges of implementing AI technologies. The findings of this study are expected to reveal the level of data literacy within NSPRI. The findings of this study will contribute to how AI has the potential to significantly improve data literacy and post-harvest research outcomes within the NSPRI. Recommendations includes Data literacy training, AI education.
