In the era of climate change, the role of Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals is expanding to include information stewardship with a focus on sustainability. This paper explores the intersection of information stewardship and climate change, highlighting the critical role LIS professionals play in promoting environmental awareness and action. Through responsible management of information resources, LIS professionals can facilitate access to crucial data on climate change, support research, and educate the public on sustainable practices. The paper also discusses strategies for integrating environmental considerations into information services, such as green information literacy programmes, eco-friendly library practices, and the promotion of open access to environmental data. Adopting these practices will enable LIS professionals to not only contribute to the global fight against climate change, but also position themselves as leaders in fostering a sustainable information environment.
