The perceptions of library staff are essential in understanding and implementing environmental practices for a sustainable future. This study investigated the perspectives of Olusegun Oke Library staff regarding sustainability initiatives and eco-consciousness within their academic institution and local community. As staff members may not have prior exposure to the concept of green libraries, this research aims to explore their initial thoughts and attitudes towards sustainability efforts such as green building standards, renewable energy utilization, and community engagement. The methodology employed in this study involves conducting in-depth interviews with the library staff to gather qualitative data on their views and experiences. By uncovering the perspectives of Olusegun Oke Library staff, this study seeks to assess their readiness to embrace environmental stewardship and drive initiatives for a greener campus. Additionally, it investigates how library staff perceive their potential roles in educating students and community members on environmental issues, empowering them to make informed decisions for a more sustainable future. The results of the interviews revealed a general awareness among the staff about environmental issues, though there was a varying degree of understanding and engagement with specific sustainability practices. Many staff members expressed enthusiasm for participating in green initiatives but highlighted the need for more comprehensive training and resources and see themselves as potential educators and influencers within the university and the broader community.
