The study examined climate change preparedness in Nigerian libraries and recommended actions to mitigate information resource loss. A mixed-method approach collected data from Nigerian LIS practitioners. The study adopted a survey approach, using a convenience sampling technique to target the study participants. With an online semi-structured questionnaire, the questionnaire was distributed through a WhatsApp group associated with the Nigerian Library Association. Over 6 weeks, 397 people responded to the survey. To analyze the data, the researchers used thematic analysis to identify key themes, as well as frequency counts, percentages and mean to summarize the responses. The study found a lack of comprehensive policies tailored to climate change preparedness in Nigerian libraries, hindering prioritization, resource allocation, and sustainable practices. Inadequate infrastructure made libraries vulnerable to climate-related hazards. Also, there is a research gap on climate change preparedness in Nigerian libraries. The study recommends developing policies addressing sustainable practices, climate resilience in infrastructure, and disaster management plans.
